Practice mode:
Complete all Training mode tasks. This mode is accessible
by entering the "Extra mode" from the main menu. The
"Extra mode" is the third option on the main menu. Once
inside, choose the second option below the "Training mode".



Survival mode:
Complete the Ankoku Bujutsukai Saga (The Black Martial
Arts Tournament) in Story mode. This mode is located below the
Practice mode option.


Build-Up mode:
Complete the Ankoku Bujutsukai Saga (The Black Martial
Arts Tournament) in Story mode. This mode is located below the
Survival mode option.


Custom mode:
Complete the Ankoku Bujutsukai Saga (The Black Martial
Arts Tournament) in Story mode. This mode uses the character which
has been strengthened through Build-Up and Survival modes.


Makai saga in Story mode:
Defeat Shinobu Sensui in Survival mode to unlock the
three remaining Story mode options. This covers up for the Makai
saga parts for Yusuke, Kurama and Hiei.


Bui:
Complete Episode 5 of the Ankoku Bujutsukai Saga (The
Black Martial Arts Tournament) in Story mode.


Chuu:
Complete Episode 1 of the Ankoku Bujutsukai Saga (The
Black Martial Arts Tournament) in Story mode.


Enki:
Complete Episode 4 of the Makai saga for Yusuke; or
Episode 3 of the Makai saga for Kurama or Hiei in Story mode.
Alternately, lose on the episode before the match with Enki.

Complete Special Episode 3 of the Ankoku Bujutsukai
Saga (The Black Martial Arts Tournament) in Story mode.


Jin:
Complete Episode 2 of the Ankoku Bujutsukai Saga (The
